I ordered a table and 4 chairs and a wardrobe for my new wheelchair adapted house. Also why go to Vietnam? I researched the furniture business its a 2 billion £ industry, why not hubs around the UK to manufacture furniture, join together buy the required machinery computer equip etc. not likely! I really wanted some investment pieces but oh how I wish I had either had them bespoke or gone to IKEA. Also why are the drawers in chest of drawers shorter than the body of the structure (cost cutting, manufacturing short cut?), same with base of w'robe, hoping to us for blanket storage. A couple of things, i admit I missed one crucial measurement but to make a w'robe that cannot go up stairs in a reasonable sized Victoria house is beyond me.
We are going to saw it up and bolt it back together as the company made no offer to take it back. It is well made but why oh why glue the dovetails? Why not make it the standard way of w'robes of the past whereby it can be halved and then bolted together. The person was more worried about the Warranty (I wasn't) - I just wanted the wardrobe upstairs!!! Nope they could not do that either. Called OFS customer services and asked for a diagram to dismantle the cupboard - my carpenter could do it. Expected them to dismantle part of it - after two worthless calls to their depot, just basically for them to pass the buck - to ensure they would not get the blame for any damage. The wardrobe would not go around the curve in the staircase. Bed was delivered to room, chest of drawers. Once they started unloading I was worried as looked like they had never delivered goods as large and heavy before. Looked impressive to start with carrying 2 large bags of 'De Walt' tools (later I pondered why?). Items arrived with a courier company and two blokes. The furniture arrived after paying extra for delivery, taking packaging - no offers of assisting with putting items together even having paid over £100.
Where is the oak from, Vietnam cannot sustain this? At least it is delivered by ship container and not air. Did you know the oak furniture is made in Vietnam? If I had know I would not have ordered. I nearly ordered from another company with a similar name (in error) and now wish I had! Over 8 weeks to delivery. Ordered chest of drawers, wardrobe and bed after a lot of research and in plenty of time (I thought) for my move to new house in May. I get goosebumps, I have a child of under 3 years at home and thank God, he was not nearby when it collapsed. Please, come forward if you have similar experience, it is not only about financial loss but more about how dangerous this product is. Don't buy from this company without physically checking the items in their store. If anything is wrong then its the design, isn't it. The irony is that there is only one way to attach the legs to the apron so how can I be wrong. Complained and an independent (but hope you understand, not independent at all) surveyor surveyed and submitted a report that the legs were wrongly assembled. One day a pair of legs detached from the apron and the table collapsed, all I did was rest my hand on the table while bending below the table to reach a switchboard. The quality of the timber is excellent but the apron to which the legs of the table are attached are so flimsy, they had been fixed with small screws. I had bought Cheadle 120cm Oak Extending Dining Table with Claudia Chairs on December 2022.
